In the Spotlight

Welcome to the "In the Spotlight" Page

Here we will post such items as:  "Member Spotlight" and "Association Spotlight", allowing us some room to boast about outstanding individuals and chapters in our association.

Congratulations to Insurance Professionals of Orange County!

Insurance Professionals of Orange County (IPOC) has a long and proud history and we celebrate our 62nd birthday this year with our annual installation of officers.

IPOC holds monthly meetings on the first Wednesday of the month, with the exception of July at the Doubletree Club in Santa Ana.  Our monthly programs include safety, legislation, education as well as interesting industry speakers and topics.

Our community actions projects include Women Helping Women and Men Back to Work, Mary’s Kitchen, Veterans Association and other local charities.  We were able to donate over 1100 pairs of socks collected at the 2017 Region VII Conference to Mary’s Kitchen.

Thanks to the amazing fundraising efforts by our members we proudly donate scholarships on an annual basis to the insurance studies program at California State Fullerton.

Past members have served as Regional Directors as well as on the International level.  Our members are involved as committee chairs and serving on committees at all levels of IAIP.

IPOC had the honor of hosting the first annual Region VII conference in Costa Mesa.  We chose the theme of Do Your Thing in 2017.  So many great memories were made.

We held the National Convention in 1968 – “Disney Date in ‘68” was the theme. We have hosted several Region VIII Conferences, 1963, 1969 & 1971 Sub-Regional’s, 1993 State Council Conference, Region VIII 1985 in Tustin, Ca and Region VIII Conference “Fun in the Sun”, Newport Beach, Ca. in 2001.

Just a little past history------

Early in 1955 several members of the Southeast Insurance Women attended a meeting of the Independent Insurance Agents of Orange County and proposed the formation of an insurance women’s club in Orange County.  The idea took root and the first organization meeting was held in April, 1955 and the Insurance Women of Orange County became a reality.  With 56 charter members, the club held its first installation of officers in May, 1955.  The N.A.I.W. Charter was received at the 1955 National Convention in San Francisco by President Dorothy Cochran and Public Relations Chairman, Alma Horton.  In June 1957, the membership voted to adopt orange and green as the organization’s colors and the orange blossom as its flower.  The first Regional Conference attended by the new club was at the Coronado Hotel in 1956 hosted by the San Diego Insurance Women.
